    Poverty Alleviation and
    Sustainable Livelihoods

Program's introduction

The theme of poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihood is an integral part of Sungi’s struggle. It includes three sub-themes/actions.

  1. Natural Resource Management (NRM):

Sungi has a firm commitment towards achieving sustainable livelihoods of the marginalized through sustainable use of natural assets and safeguarding environment.

  2. Microfinance:

Lack of financial assets had been identified as one of the main causes of poverty among the marginalized groups. Women have no or very limited access to financial and other livelihoods assets. Access and control over financial resources is key element of women empowerment and Sungi had significantly contributed in this regard.

  3. Enterprise Development:

Sungi promotes fair trade practices in enterprises and will continue promotion of traditional crafts as income generation opportunities for women economic empowerment and conservation of cultural heritage.
