Emergency Appeal to Support IDPs
Come forth … help the victims of terrorism |
-
Sungi has chalked out a plan for support to about 1465 families of IDPs in Abbottabad, 171 in
Haripur and nearby areas i.e. Hassan Abdal where 400 minority Sikh families are residing in
NFIs, Health and Hygiene and Food - mainly addressing women needs.
-
Sungi is also coordinating and facilitating registration with the Social Welfare Department of
incoming IDPs in Abbottabad.
-
Food and health support is being extended to Mardan and Swabi IDP camps.
-
Sungi’s major role shall be national level advocacy on IDP and security issues and supporting
disaster management networks.
-
Sungi would also work on long term livelihood support to IDPs once relief phase is over - in
rehabilitation.
The women IDPs coming from conservative tribal societies are the hardest hit by
health issues and unable to get medical help as there are very few Lady doctors. SUNGI APPEALS TO LADY DOCTORS TO VOLUNTEER THEIR SERVICES TO HELP
AILING WOMEN IDPS.
URGENTLY REQUIRED ARE ELECTRIC AND HAND FANS AS TEMPERATURES ARE RISING AND
IDPs ARE SUFFERING FROM HEAT STROKE.
CLEAN SAFE DRINKING WATER IS BADLY NEEDED TO AVERT POSSIBLE EPIDEMICS OF
DYSENTRY AND OTHER STOMACH AILMENTS ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN.
PLEASE DONATE GENEROUSLY TO PROVIDE RELIEF TO THE SUFFERING 1.5 MILLION
IDPS
EMERGENCY APPEAL
Come forth … help the victims of terrorism
Hundreds of thousands of the peace loving people of SWAT and Federally Administered Areas are
becoming homeless due to terrorism and military operations in their areas. They are in miserable
situation, spending their days and nights under open skies, some have reached camps, some joined
the host families and a lot more are on the way.
Sungi is committed and struggling to advocate for peace and its emergency response team and network
of trained volunteers are engaged in providing relief assistance to men, women and children. Our
major focus at the moment is to support internally displaced persons in providing them shelter,
health and hygiene services and food items.
Sungi Development Foundation seeks to adhere to the Code of Conduct of ICRC, committed to the
Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Disaster Response (Sphere) and is full member of
Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) and follows HAP principles of accountability in
emergencies.
Sungi is registered with Under Societies Act 1860, registration number No. 537 dated 06.05.90. The
national tax number (NTN) is 2060052-6.
