Establishment of NHN - Sindh Provincial Chapter (20 Sep. 2011)


To expand and formalize the structure of National Humanitarian Network being focal organization of the network; Sungi intended to organize a consultative meeting of National Humanitarian Network in Hyderabad to discuss and formulate the provincial chapter of NHN in Sindh. The meeting was successfully held in Hyderabad on September 20, 2011 at PDI Office Hyderabad.                                                               

Decision regarding Establishment of Provincial Chapter in Sindh and Provincial Secretariat 

For provincial secretariat the participants nominated and suggested Pakistan Fisher folk Forum, PILER, Civil Society Support Program and PDI to take the responsibility of leading Sindh NHN chapter along with working group. Further with the mutual consent of the participants “Civil Society Support Program” was selected to take the responsibility of provincial secretariat. Moreover the participants volunteered to be the part of Working Group. The working group would be working on developing operational strategy for Sindh Chapter and would be supporting “Civil Society Support Program” in the implementation of the strategy as well.  The list of Working Group established in NHN- Sindh Chapter is as follows:

3. Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum 
4. Lead-Pakistan 
5. PILER 
6. Indus Welfare Association  
7. BASIC Development Organization 
8. Malhaar  
9. MDF 
10. KADO – Sindh 
11. Civil Society Support Program (Provincial Secretariat) 
12. RFE  
13. GRDO 
14. CPCS 

Working group would be further working in close coordination of PDMA, DDMAs in affected districts for better response and ensure the provision of Rights Based Humanitarian Assistance to the flood affected communities in a dignified manner. The working group would be developing humanitarian updates of NHN – Sindh and would be circulating among NHN and sharing with PDMA and DDMAs on weekly basis. Highlighting advocacy issues would be the prior part of prior responsibility of working group and Provincial Secretariat. Mr. Noor Mohammad Bajeer- Executive Director Civil Society Support Program would be coordinating NHN-Sindh Chapter’s activities to all networks i.e NHN, PHF and other humanitarian Networks as well as liaison with PDMA at Karachi level would also be the responsibility of the provincial secretariat.  The provincial secretariat would keep in loop the National Secretariat i.e Sungi and all NHN so that the advocacy issues can be shared with NDMA at National level in Advisory Board/Strategic Group Meetings.
