Sungi have over 30 staff members who are trained in disaster preparedness with experience in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction after flash floods, earthquake, heavy snowfall/rain. Therefore after July/August 2010 flood disaster, five teams have been formed for: Kohistan, Charsada/Noshera/Swat/Dir, Rajanpur and Jaferabad. Working closely with the local partners Sungi started with medical relief, food distribution, construction of doli to cross the river, clearing of roads, water filtration boxes along with household items, hand pumps installation/reactivation. Besides this Sungi is also a member of a network NHN (National Humanitarian Network) which is working towards improving coordination in relief efforts on ground involving the District Administration. Of course the need for a functioning local government system is severally being felt at this point as lack of enough hands to deliver the relief effectively is the burning issue.
