Introduction, Background and Justification  

Sungi’s publication section was established in 1995 to meet the publishing demands of Sungi’ programs and projects and focuses preparing material that provides research, awareness raising and information to community partners.

The purpose of the program is to promote Sungi’s work, proper documentation of Sungi’s reports, develop promotional material for Sungi’s image building, and provide communication material support to all programs and projects.

To help programs and projects to develop information and awareness raising material for their respective programs e.g. health, education, advocacy, human rights, natural resource management, micro finance, enterprise development, environment, community infrastructure development activities by dissemination of information material e.g. newsletters, flyers, leaflets, posters, progress reports, research report etc.

Program Strategies 

• Publish bi-monthly newsletter containing articles necessary for the achievement of Sungi’s objectives, highlight advocacy issues and communicate organization’s viewpoint on public policies and its effects on relevant people and send messages to policy makers, identify and analyze focal problems at Sungi’s field area, raise awareness on issues of development that will help improve quality of their lives, and publicize activities of Sungi’s field areas as well as zonal level.
• To publish Sungi’s regular and need based publications e.g. annual report, partner’s assembly report, advocacy and other research reports, survey reports, case studies, Village Development Plan reports.
• To provide support to all programs for developing their program information material.

Linkages Development

• Dissemination of Sungi’s published material for image building and program promotion.
• Conduct exposure visits to national and international NGOs to develop linkages and share publications and experiences. 

Sources of obtaining material and information 

• Collection of material from Sungi’s field activities reports, success stories, events, meetings, conferences, case studies, progress reports, researches etc.
• Reports from Sungi Monitoring and Evaluation section
• Reports from Sungi program and zonal staff on different development and advocacy issues.
• Reports from community and development activists.

Other support to the programs

• Printing of Sungi’s publications 
• Improve the quality and presentation of publications 
• Editing, designing, translation of the publication 
• Collection of material, pictures for newsletter from community and zones. 
• Dissemination of Sungi’s publications to heads office, zonal officers, community organizations and individuals. 
• Maintain and updating the record of publications.

• Usage of gender sensitive language 
• Abiding photographic ethics 
• Abiding ethics related to the writing of articles, success stories etc.
