Project:  Winterized Shelters and Non-food Items for flood Affected Families

Target Area:  
Tehsil Palas, district Kohistan, Khyber Pukhtunkhawa, Pakistan 

Project Beneficiaries:
515 households of union council Peach Bela, Shared, Khotakot and Kolai of tehsil Palas, district Kohistan  

Project Period:
1st November 2010 to 28th April 2011 (6 months)

EUR 269,145.00 original – revised 245,696.52 Euro

Objectives:

To provide non-food items and winterized shelters to flood affected people. 

Project highlights:

  • Survey team completed verification survey of 515 households, approved shelters and registered with UN clusters in initial two months.
  • Project staff developed distribution plan of shelters and non-food items.
  • 35 village committees have participated in relief operation and delivered shelters via helicopters/vehicles to targeted villages.
  • Shelters were provided to flood affected communities to survive harsh winter;
  • Distribution took place before snow fall and benefited vulnerable households.

Key Challenges:  

Frequents changes in landing zones, delayed flights, heavy continuous snowfall, poor and flood damaged access and remote villages.
